Seven Smoothies for Seven Days

In honor of the latest addiction my family has developed, smoothie consumption, I am writing out the list of our most favorite smoothies. I hope you find something that you like. We have invested in a Vitamix Blender and its probably one of the single best purchases we have made in the past several years! Its endless what you can make with the Vitamix, soups, sorbets, smoothies, peanut butter, salad dressing, hummus, etc. the list goes on. I can’t imagine life without it 🙂

Sunday
Mango Delight Smoothie
(recipe from the Vitamix Whole Food Recipe Book)
1 medium orange, peeled and halved
1/2 medium banana peeled
1/2 mango, peeled and pitted
1/2 medium apple
1 cup ice cubes
Yields: 3 1/4 cups smoothie
Place all ingredients into your blender in the order listed and secure lid.
Blend until desired consistency is reached.

Monday
Chocolate and Coffee Lover’s Smoothie
(recipe from Prana Cafe in Newton, MA – amazing place 🙂
Young coconut water and meat from 2 young Thai coconuts
2 Tablespoons Caco powder
2 tablespoons Cacao nibs
2 tablespoons Coconut butter
1/2 cup Soaked cashews
Agave
pinch of Himalayan crystal rock salt
*we also like to add our favorite protein powder, chocolate or vanilla)

Tuesday
AvoRadoColada Shake
(pH Miracle for Weight Loss – Robert O. Young)
Serves 2
1 English cucumber
Juice from 1 ruby red grapefruit
Meat and water of two young Thai coconut
2 Avocados
2 Cups fresh organic spinach
2 scoops greens powder (your favorite)
2 scoops soy sprouts powder
2 tsp. raw green stevia powder
1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
1 tsp coconut flavoring
16-20 ice cubes
Place cucumber, grapefruit juice (we add the entire fruit minus skin), coconut meat, and coconut water in blender and blend. Then place all the remaining ingredients in the blender with ice last and blend quickly until thick and creamy. Serve immediately.

Wednesday
Lemon Lime Shake
(pH Miracle for Weight Loss – Robert O. Young)
Serves 1
1 avocado, peeled and seeded
1/2 English cucumber
1 lime, peeled
2 lemons, juiced
1 young coconut, juice and meat
1 packet stevia
8-10 ice cubes
In a blender, layer ingredients in order listed. Blend on low to start. As liquid incorporates, increase speed to high and blend until smooth and frothy. Add more ice for sorbet type consistency. Serve immediately.

Thursday (MY FAVORITE DAY)
Rain Forest Smoothie
(Beehive Juice Bar, Miami, Florida)
Serves 2
carrot juice (3-6 carrots juiced)
Apple juice (1-1 1/2 cups)
2 limes
1 avocado
Frozen bananas (2-3)
Ginger to taste (tablespoon or more)
Pink grapefruit (optional we added this)
16-20 ice cubes
Stevia to taste
Mix all ingredients together into blender and blend to desired consistency 🙂

Friday
Shakti’s Green Thai
(Green For Life, Victoria Boutenko)
Blend well:
2 1/2 cups spinach
1/2 bunch cilantro
1 clove garlic
1/2 red bell pepper
1/2 lime (juiced)
1 tsp stevia (1 green leaf)
2 Roma tomatoes
2 cups water
Yields: 1 quart of smoothie

Saturday
Liver Lover
(Green Smoothie Revolution, Victoria Boutenko)
2 cups dandelion greens
2 stalks celery
1 cup fresh parsley
1 green zucchini
1 1/2 d’Anjou pears
1/2 teaspoon fresh ginger root
1/2 teaspoon turmeric
1 dash cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon lemon juice
Yields: 1 quart of smoothie
